Mon County Habitat for Humanity

National Women Build Week

Please Visit VolunteerUp to register to build Tuesday (5/6)-Saturday(5/10).

We’re very excited to have the Delegate Amanda Pasdon volunteering with Habitat staff and partner families on Saturday, May 10.

Women Build is a Habitat for Humanity International program that encourages women to make a difference by building homes and communities. The program seeks to encourage women volunteers to further the home-building mission of Habitat for Humanity. The Women Build training program teaches women volunteers, and the women in partner families, how to construct decent, affordable housing with Habitat affiliates worldwide.

Currently, Mon County Habitat for Humanity has 5 partner families and all of them are single-mother households. The 2014 Women Build event is a great time to work alongside other women to make a difference in the lives of families in our community. Habitat is not a hand-out but a hand-up program. Each member of the household 18 years or older is required to do 250 “sweat equity” hours working on their home or another partner family’s home. They also must have a need and ability to repay the 0% interest loan.
